Our new Comprehensive Plan will guide future development and redevelopment. Our new Long Range Asset Preservation Plan will guide how we invest in City facilities to meet the community&rsquo;s needs. This is ambitious; however, by planning ahead, we can use resources efficiently to meet the expectations of community members to continue providing a high quality of life for many years to come.&rdquo; Said Kris Busse, City Administrator. </p><p>Community feedback and meaningful public engagement is essential to developing both plans so they accurately reflect the priorities of community members while also using tax dollars effectively and efficiently. </p><p class="jsx-456214529 jsx-2811794275 jsx-2530978106 responsive" data-testid="Paragraph">Owatonna&#39;s 2050 Comprehensive Plan will guide the community through growth and change for the next 20-plus years and how the City should evolve to benefit all community members.</p><h3><strong>How You Can Be Involved</strong></h3><p>The consultant guiding the comprehensive planning process is gathering findings as a foundation for the plan. This is being done through various focus groups, public events and online engagement tools. We need you, your friends and neighbors to help define a shared vision for Owatonna&#39;s future. Please take a moment to provide your Six-Word Story so it can be combined with the stories being gathered from across the community and used to shape the Comprehensive Plan.</p><p><strong>What do you envision? <p>The Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism in partnership with the City of Owatonna and business leaders recently launched a research-driven, community-wide branding initiative.</p><p>This project will help us uncover what about Owatonna is distinct, authentic, and ownable so we can succinctly highlight our key strengths through a brand we can all embrace.</p><p>The brand will also be used as a tool to help us compete in the marketplace and advance our economic objectives, such as business and resident attraction.</p><p>All the input gathered will be carefully transformed into a brand identity as well as creative tools that help tell our story and advance our combined interests in a unified fashion.</p><p>The following survey is an important component of the process to best communicate the benefits of our community. As someone who lives and/or works in Owatonna, this is your opportunity to let your voice be heard.</p><p>This confidential survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and is open to all members of the community. The information is collected anonymously and presented in an aggregate form. Community-Wide Branding Initiative

Steele County is receiving at least 1.4 million dollars over the next 18 years from the National Opioid Settlement. Steele County Public Health has been named the chief strategist and lead agency in the disbursement of funds and is seeking input from community members. We value your opinion and want to ensure Steele County community members have a say in how we prioritize funding locally! Your input will be an integral part of our strategy and decision-making process in how we use these funds. It is extremely important to us that this work is driven by the community, particularly by those who have lived experience with the opioid crisis or those who are disproportionately impacted by these issues.As we move forward, this data from the community-wide survey will be used in conjunction with qualitative data we gather from discussions across Steele County to help develop a strategic framework.
